Lead Art Director, Hotel, Villa & Restaurant Branding, Ubud
The role
A guest scrolling past a resort's feed decides in seconds whether it feels worth the trip. Here at GDA, short for Gaia Digital Agency, we want an Art Director to shape those seconds, giving each hospitality client a look that is unmistakably theirs.
Who we are
From its home in Ubud, Bali, GDA combines creative production, social, web builds, paid media, search and AI services in one team. Many of our accounts belong to hotels, villas, resorts or food and beverage venues, alongside some businesses in unrelated sectors.
Your role
It is a permanent full-time post worked on-site, meaning each working day is spent at the GDA workspace in Ubud. Your job is to decide how every client brand should look, coach the people designing and editing for those accounts, and sign off on every image and edit prior to publishing. Creative standards across the agency rest on your judgement.
What your weeks involve
- Translating client briefs into clear ideas, reference boards and shot lists
- Directing shoots on location, from suites and pool decks to kitchens and cocktail bars
- Critiquing designs, reels and cuts with notes that are specific and quick to apply
- Writing visual guidelines that keep each account coherent across Instagram, landing pages and paid placements
- Walking clients through your concepts in English and reworking them after their feedback
- Sitting with our media buyers, social managers and developers so that creative supports bookings and covers sold
Must-haves
- Hands-on history in a creative lead or art director seat, owning the big creative decisions
- Portfolio pieces made for hospitality clients like resorts, hotels, villas or restaurants
- Strong instincts for lighting, framing, typography and vertical short-form clips
- Experience guiding junior creatives, such as designers, photographers or editors
- Fluent English, both on paper and out loud, for client pitches and running internal critiques
What you get
Travellers and diners will see what you create every single day. You will lead creative across many different brands and sit next to colleagues in search, social and development who know the commercial side of hospitality well.
