Packaging Designer
The role
TruVolt Brands (Snow Joe®, Sun Joe®, Aqua Joe®, Auto Joe®, and Jetson) is a fast-growing consumer products company on a mission to disrupt historically gas-driven market sectors with top-quality, reliable, and easy-to-use innovations that are affordable and eco-conscious. With a portfolio of over 500 products spanning electric and battery-powered outdoor power equipment, pressure washers, lawn care, and personal mobility — including the #1 selling e-bicycle in the US — TruVolt operates across major retail and e-commerce channels including Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, and more.
Our team is passionate, collaborative, intellectually curious, and driven to continuously learn, experiment, and deliver results. We empower people to do their best work in a healthy, family-like culture with competitive pay, great benefits, and real opportunities for growth.
We're looking for a Packaging Designer to own our packaging from approved concept to the finished box on the shelf. You know packaging production inside and out! Dielines, structural formats, SKU variations, regulatory marks, color management and print-ready files. You're precise, organized and calm under deadline, and you make sure what gets printed matches what was designed.
You'll design and produce packaging across our brands, including Snow Joe®, Sun Joe®, Aqua Joe®, Auto Joe® and Jetson. Working closely with our Brand Designer, who sets the visual direction, you'll turn approved concepts into production-ready packaging for hundreds of products, and work with print vendors and overseas factories so every box ships right the first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn approved brand concepts into production-ready packaging layouts across product lines, including Tool Only and Kit boxes, e-commerce packaging, master cartons and inserts.
- Build and maintain packaging templates and layout systems so new products and refreshes move quickly and stay consistent across brands.
- Prepare final print files with correct dielines, bleeds, color specs (Pantone/CMYK), image resolution, typography and production notes.
- Manage packaging revisions, versioning and SKU variations across brands, and track every file from first draft to final approval.
- Make sure packaging includes all required regulatory, safety and retailer elements, such as UL/ETL and certification marks, battery warnings, Prop 65 labels, country of origin and barcodes.
- Follow each retailer's packaging and labeling requirements for partners such as Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco and Amazon.
- Work with structural vendors and factories on box formats, materials and dieline adjustments, balancing cost, protection and shelf presence.
- Review printer proofs and factory pre-production samples, flag issues and confirm finished packaging matches the approved design.
- Produce POP displays, display headers, hangtags, labels and other retail print pieces.
- Keep packaging files, linked assets and artwork libraries organized, named and archived for fast revisions and future line extensions.
- Work closely with the Brand Designer, Product Development, Sourcing, Marketing and Merchandising teams on launch timelines and packaging changes.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of packaging design or packaging production experience, ideally with consumer products sold at major U.S. retailers.
- A strong portfolio showing production-ready packaging, including dielines and printed finished pieces.
- Hands-on experience preparing files for print, including dielines, color management, prepress and proofing.
- Experience managing many SKUs and packaging variations at once without losing accuracy.
- Working knowledge of packaging regulatory and retailer requirements (certification marks, warnings, barcodes).
- Experience working with print vendors and overseas factories on proofs and samples.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, comfortable working to multiple brand guidelines and tight deadlines.
- Experience with structural packaging, battery-powered products or outdoor power equipment is a plus.
