Description

We are looking for a fun, positive individual who is a self-starter to join our diverse creative team. The Junior Graphic Designer will help with our overall marketing efforts, creating graphics for a variety of products, events, and promotions.

Ideal Candidate

This role is a fit for someone who is a recent graduate with a focus on Graphic Design / Visual Design, or a self-taught designer with a suitable portfolio.  The ideal candidate should also wish to gain experience in social media marketing and event marketing, as they will work cross-functionally as needed.

Note: This is a 100% in-office role, and the ideal candidate should be interested in some form of art or craft (ex: painting, sewing, quilting, model making, etc.).

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop creative concepts and design solutions that align with the company's brand identity making sure branding is consistent, clear, and impactful.
  • Passion for sewing, crafting, or creating. This could be anything from needlepoint or crochet to digital media.
  • Create visually appealing graphic designs in Adobe Creative Suite for various marketing materials, including but not limited to brochures, flyers, social media posts, photo edits, and website banners.
  • Develop editable templates that can be easily adapted for similar events or promotions.
  • Assist in social media marketing efforts by replying to comments and taking notice of what colors and images inspire our customers, who are avid quilters and crafters.
  • Engage with our customers on social media platforms by monitoring, responding, and commenting to customers in the Handi Quilter voice.
  • Conceptualize visually engaging designs in accordance with project requirements.
  • Generate initial drafts and effectively present creative ideas before implementing the design process.
  • Design Monthly promotional graphics, social media & other tasks/graphics.
  • Format/edit manuals/ informational materials.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality designs. Confident working autonomously as well as with the close-knit creative group.
  • Stay up to date with current design trends and industry best practices to ensure the company's designs are modern and innovative.
  • Work with the team to organize file assets and imagery.
  • Pay attention to detail, ability to multitask, and manage time efficiently.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Training or Education:

  • BA or BFA in Design, Visual Arts, or a relevant field, preferably in graphic design. Candidates without formal education (who have a portfolio) will also be considered.
  • Able to work in a team setting collaborating and discussing creative needs.
  • Attention to creative detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respond to constructive feedback, maintaining productivity throughout the design process.
  • 1+ years of marketing experience.
  • Experience with social media, marketing tools, and/or other creative design tools.
  • WordPress experience a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of sewing or quilting is a big plus!

  • Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Canva
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp, social media platforms
