Meritensa is an early stage legal AI startup building to enable access to justice in America. Every year, people with real, winnable cases get turned away by law firms because they lack money to pay hourly and lack preparation to compel a contingency firm to assume the risk. We’re here to fix this.

About the role

This is an early stage fractional, equity-only position that offers meaningful ownership in the startup. This is not a paid job or contract. You would join as a team member earning equity on a vesting schedule. Initially, compensation is startup equity only; there is no salary or stipend offered until the company raises funding.

You’ll work directly with our Head of Design & Branding to own the visuals for our LinkedIn and blog, turning ideas, articles, and data into clear, compelling graphics. Hours are remote and flexible around your other work, with some overlap with US time zones for calls.

Responsibilities

• Contribute 10 hours per week on graphic design.
• Design LinkedIn graphics, including single images, carousels, quote cards, announcements, and simple data visuals.
• Create blog covers, in-article illustrations, diagrams, and social share images.
• Turn complex legal topics into simple, readable visuals.
• Maintain brand consistency across typography, color, layout, and imagery, and build reusable templates to speed up production.
• Incorporate feedback quickly and manage deadlines across several posts per week.

Qualifications

• At least 2-4 years of graphic design experience, whether freelance, agency, or in-house.
• A strong portfolio featuring social media and/or editorial work.
• Strong fundamentals in typography, color, grids, layout, and visual hierarchy, with an eye for clean, uncluttered design.
• Proficiency in Figma and/or Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Canva is welcome as an additional tool, but not your main design tool.
• Good English reading and writing skills for working with American content and communicating with the team.
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working remotely with clear deadlines.
• Nice to have: basic motion graphics or short video editing; illustration or icon design; experience with B2B, SaaS, fintech, or legal brands; thoughtful use of AI image tools.
