JOB TITLE:             Graphic Designer

REPORTS TO:        Creative Director
STATUS:                 Hourly, Non-Exempt   
HOURS:                  Full time (40 hours/week)

The Communications Team (which consists of writers, editors, graphic designers, and project managers) and the Film Team (which consists of filmmakers and production coordinators) are part of a large, multidisciplinary creative team. As part of this team, you’ll be responsible for bringing creative solutions and perspectives to any given project that serves the needs of the team and in turn, the ministry and campuses as a whole. You’ll also be responsible for collaborating with all team members to successfully complete projects requiring the coordinating content and resources for any and all mediums, platforms, and social media channels.

You Will:
  • Contribute to the creative process by continually developing, critiquing, and designing materials that further the mission and vision of the church
  • Design projects for various ministries (including, but not limited to, social media assets, logos, posters, programs, stage graphics, flyers, booklets, apparel/merch, series artwork, web elements, etc) in a timely and complete manner with a presentation that is clear, concise and professional. 
  • Establish & maintain contact with the various ministries of Calvary Chapel for the purpose of developing, producing, and delivering a final product that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Establish & maintain contact with vendors for various projects to ensure proper, accurate, and professional completion of projects for their respective deadlines (under the direction of the Communications Project & Vendor Manager).
  • Represent the design team at meetings where a designer is needed for input on creative direction.
  • Various administrative work including project time tracking; task logging; maintaining proper email & phone correspondence; etc.
  • Maintain communication of project status via the established project management software.
  • Provide proofs for approval to ministries. 
  • Separate time weekly (30 minutes) to intentionally build relationships across departments and teams, in an effort to develop collaboration.
You Have:
  • Some formal graphic design training (degree preferred).
  • Creative flair, originality and strong visual sense. 
  • Strong understanding of typographic principles. 
  • Strong visual vocabulary. 
  • Ability to create and present concept proposals and effectively communicate them to the Creative Director or Executive Leadership Team. 
  • Knowledge of printing production processes and experience with preparing files for printing presses. 
  • Computer skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD (After Effects is a bonus)
  • Excellent organizational skills with an appreciation for details.   
  • The ability to assess, administer, develop and implement (processes, procedures, workflow, etc.). 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for relating effectively with staff members, leadership, church body, and community. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task. 
  • A deep love for YouTube and the desire to continually learn new skills and techniques.  
What you are required to know:
  • We are an EEO employer.

  • You may have to bend, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, pull, push and/or move up to 35 lbs.
  • You may have to work evenings and/or weekends to assist with special events or emergencies.
  • You may have to sit in front of a computer screen for prolonged hours at a time.
